Where it all comes together

There are a lot things across the web that I want to remember or collect or things that I want to reference at a later date; So this is where it all comes together. Its my all-in-one multimedia journal. There isn't a rhyme or reason to it, its just whatever I think is cool, funny, interesting and admirable.

Observing and the Observed

We were split up into small groups this past week to teach each other on a technological subject. Dr. Wright popped in from time to time to observe, take notes and give constructive criticism. On one particular visit I took to heart, and felt rather proud of myself when Dr. Wright privileged us with some of his hard earned wisdom. He said something to the effect of: “…make sure that what you’re teaching has a greater purpose; if you’re teaching about downloading videos from YouTube, great, but explain what other purposes it has as far as how can it benefit people in the long run. And I thought that what I was teaching matched quite appropriately with what he suggested, which was; converting clips from a DVD into a editable format and then importing those clips into programs such as PowerPoint or keynote which is commonly used for classroom instruction.

I’m already expecting too much of myself. I think for some reason that I need to be or that I will be a perfect teacher when I actually have a classroom of my own. I won’t be…but thank greatness that I’m involved in a program that will help me get closer to that goal.

I love these opportunities that we have to go and observe and how eventually we will be student teaching. There are so many benefits that come from it. I have been ‘observing' teachers for many years as I have worked my way through the educational system but never with the mind set of ‘what can I learn from this teacher since I’m going to be teaching someday as well. I’m back in classroom and my observational notes are a lot different as I shinning a whole new light on the teacher. I didn't want to leave, I wanted to continue to sit there and soak up knowledge and tips and ideas. So I am definitely looking forward to our next visit.
